J. W. “Dub” Tucker, age 87 of Wynnewood, OK, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Pauls Valley Care Center in Pauls Valley. Dub was born December 13, 1926 in Wynnewood; he was the 3rd of four boys born to Claude E. Tucker and Laura Josephine (Hunt) Tucker. He grew up a country boy living in between Wynnewood and Pauls Valley and attended the Wynnewood schools. He later married Sarah Jane Hatman and together they raised three children; Roger, Jacquelyn and Karen. In his earlier years, Dub worked as a Lumber Jack living in Eugene, OR. After a divorce, he moved back to the OKC area in 1955 where he met and later married LaVelle (Turner) Williams. LaVelle was a single mother raising seven children; Donald, Sandra, Ted, David, Kathy, Roy and Troy. On April 28, 1957, they had a son of their own, Galen. While living in OKC, Dub worked for Sooner Box Co. and later Love Box Co. He retired after working nearly 20 years and moved back to Wynnewood in 1978 to live on the Tucker family home place. Dub loved living in the country where he could live the country life. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time camping and fishing with LaVelle. He liked watching sports and was an avid O.U. Fan. He loved his family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather. He was preceded in death by: Parents; Claude and Laura Tucker, Wife: LaVelle Tucker in 2000, 3 sons: Donald Wayne Williams, Galen Linn Tucker and Roger Lee Tucker, 3 brothers: Jim, Pete and Eugene Tucker, One granddaughter: Melanie Kaye Tucker,
He is survived by: 8 children: Jacquelyn Jean Tucker of Portland, OR, Karen Rene James and husband Brad of Vancouver, Washington, Sandra Brown of OKC, Ted Williams and wife Rosemary of Wanette, Kathy Mabrey of OKC, David Williams of Kingston, OK, Roy Dale Williams of Harrah, OK, Troy Gene Williams of McLoud, OK, 2 daughters-in-law: Cheryl Tucker Paschal of OKC and Cora Tucker of Portland, OR. 23 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2013,
at the Byars Baptist Church in Byars, OK. Interment will be at the Byars
Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
