Albert R. Smith passed away last Saturday at the Veteran's Hospital in Sulphur.

He was born near Hillsboro, Kansas on January 4, 1888. He was 48 years of age and had been a resident of Byars for a number of years.

His death was caused by ill health brought on by gas and exposure while serving in the World War in France. Smith serviced 19 months overseas during the World War.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist church in Byars last Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock with Rev. Fred Fisher of Byars officiating.

Full military honors were accorded the deceased by the American Legion posts of Byars and Purcell and interment was made in the Byars cemetery with Yoakum Funeral Home in charge.

Survivin relatives include his father, Pete A. Smith of Byars, three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Crouch of McComb, Mrs. Susie Megeehee of Harrah and Miss Mary Smith of Byars; and one brother, Joe Smith of Knowles, Okla.
