Wilbur David “Sis” Wilson, 83 years of age, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. The son of Wilbur W. Wilson and Dorothy Katherine (Dilbeck) Wilson, Wilbur was born on August 31, 1939 in Blanchard.
Wilbur or WD as he was known by many, lived most of his life in Blanchard except for about twelve years that he spent in the Stroud/Wellston area. He attended Tuttle schools. WD was a horse jockey when he was younger, participating in match races, but mostly worked as a horse trainer. In 1964 he was named the Leading Trainer in Stroud. He was self-employed the majority of the time but did work for Leo Winters for a time period. WD did enjoy reading and watching westerns and horse races. Mostly he loved being outdoors, working with cattle and just being outside. WD will be missed by many family and friends.
WD is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Lee Wilson; and brother, James Lewis Wilson.
WD is survived by his two daughters, Terry Wilson and Debra West both of Blanchard; son, Keith Wilson and wife Lori of Hurst, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kandi, Lisa and Kylee West, Elizabeth, Victoria, and David Lee Wilson, and Alexander Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Jaylen Campbell, Alan Price, Jordan Price, Mia Hefley, Mya Hefley, Jameson Campbell, and Gavin Lackey; two brothers, Eddie Wilson and wife Jo Ellen of Blanchard and Frank Wilson and wife Gay of Wayne; two sisters, Dorothy “Dolly” Kennedy of Blanchard and Betty Arbuckle and husband Mike of Lake Texoma; and many more loving family members and friends.
Funeral Services for WD will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Interment to follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
