Lorella (Howell) Wilson age 78 of Newcastle passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Okla. City after an extended illness.
She was born, Nov. 20, 1937 in Lindsay, OK, the
only child born to Willie Arnold Howell and Lue Ellen (Hanley). She grew up a
farm girl living near Cox City. She attended school and later graduated from Cox
City H. S. with the class of 1956. After high school Lorella attended the
Draughn School of Business in OKC. On August 24, 1957 she married the love of
her life, Wesley Alva Wilson, a young man also from Cox City. They made their
first home in OKC for 16 years, where they raised two daughters, Jo Ellen and
Beth Ann. While her daughters were growing up, Lorella worked as a homemaker,
wife and mother. In 1973 they moved to a small farm in Newcastle and in 1976 she
began a career as a secretary for the Newcastle Public Schools, retiring after
20 years. It was hard to say Lorella without saying Wesley. They enjoyed being
together and doing things together. For many years they were actively involved
in the Newcastle Community, working with the Newcastle Chamber, Newspaper and
the senior citizens. She was a faithful Christian and for 25 years was a member
of the Newcastle Heights Church of Christ. For the past 15 years she has
attended the Southern Ridge Church of Christ in South OKC. Throughout their
life, Lorella and Wesley enjoyed entertaining guests in their home, traveling
and gardening. She also enjoyed bowling when she was younger, as well as sewing
and doing crafts. Most of all, she loved her family. She will be greatly missed
by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Willie and Lue Ellen Howell; Husband,
Wesley Wilson on July 16, 2006; She is survived by: Two daughters, Jo Ellen
Collin and husband Rick of Flower Mound, TX, Beth Ann Sexton and husband Dick of
Bloomington, IN. One grandson, Brandon Sexton of Bloomington, IN. Five aunts,
Velita, Jewell, Anna Jean, Nora Jane and Imogene. Several cousins and a host of
friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Southern Ridge
Church of Christ, SW. 134th OKC with burial at the Blanchard Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to her church in her memory
