Florene Evelyn Wilson, 95, of Oklahoma City, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Chickasha. She was born January 2, 1921 to Millard and Myrtle (Bond) Wilson in Calvin, Oklahoma.

The family moved from Calvin to Blanchard when Florene was eleven. She attended Blanchard schools and graduated in 1939. She went on to graduate from Draughon’s School of Business in Oklahoma City. Her first position was at the hospital at Tinker Field. She transferred to the Veteran’s Hospital with a better positon. She worked a couple of years at Veterans and then was able to acquire a job with Carter Oil. She was private secretary to Mr. Folks, the manager of Carter Oil. Mobil Oil purchased Carter Oil, which later merged to become ExxonMobil. She retired in February 1981 as office assistant in the land section.

Florene was very passionate about helping young women who were just getting started in the business world. She donated money and clothes to organizations for this cause. She also loved children, especially her nephew and nieces, taking them on many outings, especially to Spring Lake. She donated money to many children’s programs. During the Christmas season if she knew of a family that was struggling financially, she would purchase Christmas gifts, especially clothes for their children.

Florene was a very loving and caring daughter, taking care of her father and mother until their deaths. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James M. Wilson, a great niece, Julie and great-great nieces Lexi and Maggie.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Sedlmeir and niece Jane Wilson of Denison, Texas; one brother, Bill Wilson and wife, Phyllis; nephew, Jeff Wilson and wife, Mary; niece, Alisa Wilson, all of Blanchard; nieces Nancy Maynard and husband Ronnie and Sue Wilson, all of Purcell; other great nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
