Billy Rene Wilson, 90, of Blanchard, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his home.
He was born in Calvin, Oklahoma, December 25, 1926 to Millard and Myrtle (Bond) Wilson. He was the youngest of three children. Bill was christened at the Calvin Methodist Church in the spring of 1923 and later rededicated his life at the Blanchard Methodist Church. The family moved to Blanchard when he was five years old. He attended Blanchard schools for twelve years, graduating in 1944.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He married Phyllis Bingaman in 1948 in Oklahoma City. They had two children, Jeffery Alan and Alisa Ann. Bill attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma and then moved back to Blanchard to the family farm. He went to work in the Blanchard Post Office as a clerk and later transferred to a rural route and retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and was on the finance committee for many years. Bill also was a member of the Bond-Holden Post of the American Legion. Bill loved his family, his church, and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Wilson; his sister, Florene Wilson; and a great granddaughter, Lexi Selsor.
Bill is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis Wilson of Blanchard; one son, Jeff Wilson and his wife, Karla of Blanchard; one daughter, Alisa Wilson and Mark Myers of Blanchard; grandchildren, Kristen Nicole Selsor and her husband, Chad of Dibble, James Russell Pitmon and his wife, Charlotte of Florida, James Curtis Wilson of Alex, Sarah Ashley Burnett and her husband, Gary of Blanchard, and Kody Nathaniel Pitmon of New Mexico; great grandchildren, Laynie and Lorelei Selsor, Zackary Begley, Skyler Wilkerson, and Evelyn Marie Pitmon.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Blanchard.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
