Jerry Leon Wilkerson,74, of Blanchard, died Saturday, February 9, 2019, in Blanchard. The son of Roland Lafate “Bub” Wilkerson and Alene Mayme (Paulk) Wilkerson, he was born May 12, 1944, in Geary, Oklahoma.
Jerry worked for many years as a truck driver and was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. He married Verdonna Ann Waggoner on September 29, 1978, in Blanchard. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed playing horseshoes, golf, softball, and dominoes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Jerry was a fan of OU Sooner and OSU Cowboy Football and also the OKC Thunder. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. He loved traveling on family vacations to Branson and going out to eat with his wife on dates. Jerry had a great sense of humor and was always pulling practical jokes on his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Ronald Lee Wilkerson.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Verdonna Wilkerson; three sons, Ronnie Wilkerson and wife, Dawn, of Blanchard, Jeff Wilkerson and wife, Laura, of Oklahoma City, and Patrick Wilkerson of Choctaw; two daughters, Amber Wilkerson and husband, Adam Chaney, of Oklahoma City, and April Wade and husband, Trent, of Newcastle; ten grandchildren, Zachary and Claire Wilkerson of Oklahoma City, Sarah Wilkerson, Emily Wilkerson, and Austin Wilkerson, all of Blanchard, Connor Wilkerson of Choctaw, Carson Wade, Caleb Wade, Colton Wade, and Christian Wade, all of Newcastle; one sister, Connie Richardson and husband, Steve, of Blanchard; two brothers, Charles Wilkerson and wife, Sue, of Oklahoma City, and Ricky Wilkerson and wife, Shirley, of Choctaw; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
