Jackson Harrell “Jack” Walker, 87, of Newcastle, died Monday, September 7, 2015, at his home. He was born July 24, 1928, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Jack married Betty Jean Plamann on February 24, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas. Throughout his life, Jack was a constant worker and businessman, having various occupations. Early in his life, he worked in the aircraft industry before owning and operating a service station in Wichita, Kansas. After selling the service station, Jack operated a trucking company before working as a foreman at a machine shop. In 1969, he opened Walker Racing Enterprises, building racecars full-time. In 1972, he moved his family and Walker Racing to Oklahoma City where he was well known as an outstanding race car builder for many years. In 1981, Jack and his sons opened Walker and Sons Enterprises, a manufacturing business in Newcastle. In addition to these occupations, he spent countless hours working the land, farming, baling hay and caring for the family cow herd. He was a member of the Newcastle Free Will Baptist Church. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Monna Bell (Greer) Walker; one sister, Laverne Walker; and two brothers, Don Mike Walker and Jerry Walker.

Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Walker of Newcastle; two sons, Bobby J. Walker and his wife, Kathy, of Newcastle, and Ricky A. Walker of Newcastle; two grandchildren, J.T. Walker and his wife, Brunella, of Tucson, Arizona, and Jamie Glover and her husband, Dustin, of Elgin; two great grandchildren, Tommy and Taylor Glover, both of Elgin; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Newcastle Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.comm.
