Barbara Ann VanHoose age 73, of Blanchard, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 01, 2018.
She was born February 17, 1945, in Washburn, Texas. Barbara was the 3rd child of six children born to Marion Richard Burns and Dona Doyle (Smith) Burns. She grew up and attended school in Floydada, Texas. On July 20, 1963 in Floydada, Texas she married the love of her life, John Alfred VanHoose. Together they raised two children, Susan and Richard.
Barbara worked hard at home as a homemaker, wife and mother. She also worked outside of the home throughout her life, working at various jobs. She and Alfred lived in several different towns in Texas before settling in Lubbock. In 1990, they moved to Oklahoma and in 2001 they moved to Blanchard.
Barbara was a faithful Christian woman and while living in Blanchard, she attended Tri City Worship Center Church in Newcastle. She loved being outdoors and working with her hands. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a gifted seamstress, she like to quilt, crochet and do cross stitch. Most of all, Barbara loved her family, they were everything to her.
She was preceded in death by:
Parents, Marion and Dona Burns;
Husband, Alfred VanHoose on Jan. 10, 2016;
Sister, Margaret Balkcom;
Two brothers, Bill Burns and one infant brother;
She is survived by;
Daughter, Susan VanHoose of Blanchard,
Son, Richard VanHoose of Blanchard,
Grandson, Jehlan Beavers of Blanchard,
Sister, Elaine Lock and husband Kevin of Elfers, Florida,
Brother, Buster Burns and wife Lea of Saginaw, Texas,
Brother-in-law, Rev. Cecil VanHoose and wife Betty of Brownwood,
Texas.
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at Tri City Worship Center, 3446 NW 24th, Newcastle, OK. Interment will be at Blanchard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave, Newcastle, OK.
