Coreena Sue Townsend passed to her heavenly home on September 10, 2021. The daughter of Orval and Alma Adaline (Campbell) Burton, Coreena was born on October 17, 1946, in Hobart, Oklahoma.
Coreena enjoyed canning fresh vegetables, crocheting, making blankets, many kinds of crafts, including needlework and working word puzzles. She loved spending time with her great grandkids, singing them songs and rocking them in Maw Maw’s chair. She enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. She also enjoyed catfishing with Harvey, mainly keeping him busy with the net. Coreena was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Blanchard. She enjoyed many years of working in the bus ministry, teaching Sunday School, working in VBS and singing in the choir.
Coreena was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, NJ Burton; 2 sisters, June Wood and Marianna Burton; one grandson, Kyle Townsend.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Townsend of Blanchard; four sons, Tom Townsend and wife Shirley of Vancouver, Washington, Tonie Townsend of Blanchard, Monty Townsend and wife Kim of Blanchard, and Mark Townsend of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandsons, Tyler Townsend and wife Miranda of Blanchard, Bryce Townsend and fiancé Crystal Cantrell of Blanchard and Joe Bates of Newcastle; 7 great grandchildren, Ryder, Stanton, Tanner Townsend, Kylee Townsend, Miranda Moses, Jeffery Cantrell, and Serenity Cantrell; 1 brother, Donnie Burton and wife Frances of Cahoun, Louisiana; one sister, Helen Timothy and husband John of Muskogee; sister-in-law, Ruth Burton of Hobart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Viewing for friends and family will be held at 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 17, 2021, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. Interment to follow at the Blanchard Cemetery.
