Lonnie Joe Sturgell, 56, of Blanchard, died Sunday, December 8, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma. The son of Herman Leroy and Martha Naomi (Higgins) Sturgell, he was born May 23, 1957 in Oklahoma City.

He was employed as a maintenance worker for the State of Oklahoma for over 13 years. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, and going to the lake with his family.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.H. “Bud” and Jessie “Dutch” Sturgell, and Marvin W. and Lillian May Higgins.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Thiessen and husband, Justin, of Chickasha; his son, James Sturgell of Dibble; his mother, Naomi Ellenberg and husband, Loyd, of Guthrie; his father, Herman Sturgell of Blanchard; his brothers, Donnie Sturgell and wife, Alpha, of Blanchard and Ronnie Sturgell of Guthrie; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service for Lonnie will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
