She retired from Central State Hospital in Norman. Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle and was very active for many years in WMU, Jolly Elders, and working in the children’s department. She enjoyed working VBS and cooking for church functions. Lois regularly checked on her church family and neighbors and enjoyed sending cards to encourage her many friends. She also enjoyed embroidery, making sock monkeys for all her grandchildren, reading books, crocheting, quilting, playing dominoes, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin J. Smith in 1962; infant daughter, Bonnie Jean Murry; daughter, Alberta Mae Harmon; grandson, Jerry Paul Caraker; and brother, Donald L. Bratcher.
Lois is survived by one son, Albert Murry of Oklahoma City; her two daughters, Rozella Caraker of Oklahoma City and Judith Totten and husband, Mark of Tulsa; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Bench of Oklahoma City and Reba Grounds of Duncan; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard with interment to follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
