James Elva Sheets, 77, of Newcastle, formerly of Tomball, Texas,
died Thursday, June 2, 2016, in Oklahoma City. He was born December 11, 1938 in
Bradley, Oklahoma.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman. James married Martha Francis Cook on
December 16, 1961, in Houston, Texas. He worked for many years as a machinist
and attended Southpointe Church in Oklahoma City. James was a Master Mason with
the Myrtle Lodge in Oklahoma City and was a member of the Pipefitters Union. He
was very involved with the Royal Rangers and served as District Commander and
was a member of the Frontiersmen Camping Fraternity. In his spare time, he
enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leola M. Sheets; his adoptive father,
T.T. Sheets; his father, Brownie Cummins; and his wife of 52 years, Martha
Sheets.
James is survived by two daughters, Deborah Pool of Aurora, Colorado, and Deanna
Barfoot and husband, Kevin, of Dickson, Tennessee; one son, David Sheets of
Round Rock, Texas; five grandchildren; Amanda Barfoot Riley and husband,
Kenneth, of Dickson, Tennessee, Ryan Barfoot of Dickson, Tennessee, Aaron Pool
of Houston, Texas, Kristin Pool of Aurora, Colorado, and Evelyn Pool of Aurora,
Colorado; three great grandchildren, McKenna Riley, Emma Riley, and Parker
Riley; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Jerri Sheets of Newcastle; one
sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Jesse Scott of Warr Acres; two nephews,
Todd Sheets of Blanchard and Kevin Sheets and wife, Shawna, of Newcastle; one
niece, Tosha Davis and husband, Eric, of Oklahoma City; and many other loved
ones and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Eisenhour
Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery,
Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of
