He was twin brother to Loy. Roy grew up in southwestern Oklahoma near Hollis and attended Arnett Schools. Roy excelled at sports. He played basketball on the Arnett basketball team that won state in 1941 and was named All State Guard. In May 27, 2006 he was named to the Harmon County Sports Hall of Fame in Hollis, Oklahoma. After graduation Roy served a term in the U.S. Marines.
In 1941, Roy married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Graves. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Bonnie’s death in 2006. Roy was a grocery man all his life. In 1967 they moved to Blanchard and were owner/operators of Roy’s Food Market where their customers became friends and neighbors. Roy and Bonnie joined Blanchard First Baptist Church upon moving to Blanchard where he served as a deacon until he went to be with his Lord. Roy and Bonnie retired to a full life of traveling in their travel trailer with friends, always fishing and golfing wherever they went. Roy loved to be outdoors, playing and working. It was his joy to help others in their yards and garden.
His parents, three brothers, one sister and his wife preceded him in death.
Roy is survived by two daughters, Sherry and Ronnie Holsted of Blanchard and Johnnie (Tillie) and Gary Atwood of Enid, OK., grandchildren Hanna Holsted, Hayley Holsted, Kelly and husband Jeff Gwin, Brian and wife Katy Atwood and Kris and husband Kevin Cherry, and eight great-grandchildren.
Family graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Blanchard Cemetery. Memorial service will be at First Baptist Church, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Bonnie Mae Graves was born Aug. 21, 1924, to Chester and Ethel Owens Graves. She departed this life on Dec. 14, 2006.
Bonnie grew up in the
rural farming community of Hollis, Oklahoma and attended Arnett school where
she met and married her high school sweetheart, Roy Scott in 1941. She was a
loving wife and mother, raising her family in Wellington, Texas, Elk City,
Oklahoma, Mangum, Oklahoma, and finally in Moore, Oklahoma.
In 1967, she and Roy moved to Blanchard and opened Roy’s Super Market where
they worked side-by-side for 10 years making friends of their many
customers.
When they retired, Roy and Bonnie enjoyed traveling across the United States
in their travel trailer with friends. They traveled from Canada to Mexico
with favorite stops in South Texas and Colorado.
In 2006, Roy and Bonnie celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Bonnie is survived by husband Roy, of the home; a sister, Johnnie Argo and
her husband Ivan, of Hollis, Okla.; and a brother, Bobby Graves and his wife
Billie, of Muleshoe, Texas; two daughters and their families: Sherry and
Ronnie Holsted of Blanchard; Hanna and Hayley Holsted of Blanchard; Johnnie
and Gary Atwood of Enid, Okla.; Kelly and Jeff Gwin of Enid; Brian and Katy
Atwood of Enid; Kris and Kevin Cherry of Dallas, Texas; and eight
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Bonnie was beloved and will be greatly missed. “She is worth far more than
rubies. Her children arise and call her blessed: her husband also, and he
praises her.” Proverbs 31:10 and 28.
