James Warren Phares, 76, of Newcastle, died Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his home. The son of Dewey George Phares and Jewel Georgia (Hardin) Phares, he was born November 16, 1941 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. James worked as a machinist for OG&E and retired after 21 years. He attended Open Door Baptist Church in Blanchard. James had a heart for helping others and made countless beaded bracelets to give to people to share the gospel. He was a member of the Millwright Carpenters Union and Masonic Lodge #405 in Tuttle. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, and being outdoors. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandkids and watching their softball games.
James is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gilda Anne (Lovely) Phares; two brothers, Royce Phares and Rayburn Phares; and one sister, Elaine Phares.
He is survived by his wife, Noma Phares, of Newcastle; three sons, Jamie Phares of Blanchard, Jason Phares of Blanchard, and Darrell Retherford and his wife, Cari, of Florida; nine grandchildren, Thomas Phares of Blanchard, Taylor Phares of Blanchard, Jaci Phares of Blanchard, Jessica Phares of Blanchard, Rachel Retherford of Arkansas, Lindsey Retherford of Arkansas, Christine Retherford of Oklahoma City, Reagan Retherford of Oklahoma City, and Erik Retherford of Florida; two sisters, Ina McAteer and her husband, Dennis, of Arizona and Geneva Wilcox and her husband, Gene, of Arizona; one brother, Denny Phares and his wife, Nancy, of Arizona; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
The
family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 6:00 P.M., to 8:00
P.M., at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour
Funeral Home of Blanchard.
