George W. Paige was born in Norway, Maine April 7, 1864, died
January 24, 1922.
He moved to Minneapolis in 1882 and the same year to Kanopolis, Kansas where he
resided until 1901 when he came to Anadarko, Oklahoma then in 1911 to Middleberg,
Oklahoma and had recently moved to Blanchard, Oklahoma. On the 17th of May 1885
he was married to Miss Hattie Francis Hodgden. To this union three children
were born - Vincent Monroe Paige of Duncan, Oklahoma, Clarence Lester Paige of
Blanchard, Oklahoma and Jennie May Rye of Diball, Texas. After his marriage he
united with the Methodist Church. From then until his death, he was a devout
Christian, showing his faith and devotion to Christ by a life of kindness and
service to mankind. He was taken ill at the hotel in Chickasha early the
morning of January 24 and died before medical aid could arrive.
His body was laid to rest by kind hands in Blanchard Cemetery. His memory will linger as a benediction.
We shall miss him here, but we shall meet him up yonder.
"Above is the transcription of George's obituary, written in a notebook in his
wife's, Hattie's, hand. The original obituary records for both were
destroyed by fire at the local library that wiped out all records from the 1920s
and 1930s. I have copied cousin Lanita's here, so that you know I have permission to
send this information to you and have you post it on the cemetery website."
