Jennie Lee (Bailey) Nelson, 74, of Blanchard, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Blanchard. The daughter of Ebb and Rena (Metcalf) Bailey, she was born June 22, 1940 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Jennie was a Lutheran in faith. She married Royce Milton Nelson on January 29, 1960 in Del City, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, Jennie owned and operated various small businesses. Jennie was a very caring person and was always looking for ways to help others. She enjoyed baking, painting, sewing, knitting and crocheting. More often than not, the things that she made to sell were given to others who needed it. Jennie knitted over 1000 hats that she donated to children fighting cancer and veterans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Delbert Bailey.
Jennie is survived by one daughter, Julie Nelson of Oklahoma City; one son, Jeff Nelson and wife, Jill, of Newcastle; four grandchildren, Lauren Reilly of Oklahoma City, Quade Nelson of Norman, Sydney Nelson of Blanchard, and Shea Livingston of Blanchard; three great grandchildren, Aiden, Dasen, and Brantlee, her very dear friend, Mae Shannon; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
