Randall Dean “Randy” Madden, 71, of Norman, died Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Norman.
The son of John Samuel Madden and Zelma June (Pence) Madden, he was born February 16, 1953, in Norman.
Randy married Terri Ann Cothran on May 23, 2005, in Newcastle, Oklahoma.
He worked for many years as a meat cutter for Wal-Mart until his retirement.
He attended Life Spring Church in Norman.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with his family. Randy loved to bowl and was a member of the United States Bowling Congress, where he competed nationally in league bowling for the past 24 years. For the last 15 years, Randy played “Santa” for various organizations, events, and parades in Moore, Norman, and the Oklahoma City area, bringing joy to countless children with his natural white beard and sweet spirit. He was a talented woodworker and donated toy boxes and various other items to be raffled off for charity. He loved helping others and was known for his big heart. His happiest times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Poppy.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Randy is survived by his wife, Terri Madden, of Norman; three daughters, Amy Townsend and her husband, Chris, of Norman, Amanda Madden of Tuttle, and Shae Karp and her husband, Bert, of Oregon; four grandchildren, Abigail Frittz of Maine, Alexis Brooks of Maryland, Colin Townsend of Norman, and Annette Townsend of Norman; one sister, Glenda Madden of Norman; one brother, Steve Madden of Norman; several nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Viewing for friends and family will be from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2024, at LifeSpring Church, 600 West Tecumseh Road, Norman, OK 73069. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
