James Edward “Eddie” Kalkbrenner, 57, of Newcastle, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in Norman. He was born January 4, 1960 in Poteau, Oklahoma.
He worked as a sign technician for Oklahoma County District 2 and retired after 38 years of service. Eddie married Barbara Ann (Morgan) Christy on November 11, 2006 in Choctaw. He was a member of the New Life Harvest Church in Choctaw. In his spare time, he enjoyed horseback riding, farming, and raising chickens, goats, peacocks, and horses. Eddie enjoyed watching sports, especially, OU Football, the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed spending time and visiting his buddies at Precision Nutrition. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene “Doc” Kalkbrenner and Verla Dean (Sigle) Kalkbrenner; a son, Kevin Christy; a granddaughter, Addison Christy; and his brother, Bobby Kalkbrenner.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Barbara Kalkbrenner of Newcastle; one daughter, Heather Christy and Charlie of Newcastle; three sons, Eric Bell of Midwest City, Daniel Bell of Midwest City, and Mark Huffman and wife, “T”, of Oklahoma City; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Owings and her husband, Karrol, of Choctaw and Kathi Henderson and her husband, Larry, of Choctaw; sister-in-law, Vicki Kalkbrenner of Choctaw; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and Mike Ulry of Gardner, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
