J.B. served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, he married Nora Nadine Sturgell of Blanchard on April 4, 1946 and they made their home in Oklahoma City. He worked at Grant Shoe Store in downtown Oklahoma City until Tinker Air Force Base opened in Del City. He then went to work for Tinker Air Force Base until retiring in 1985. J.B. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord. J.B. was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nadine, three brothers, and three sisters.
J.B. is survived by his daughter, Karen Barivieva and her husband, Joel, of Blanchard; three grandchildren, Heather Earley and her husband, Kee, of Midwest City, Derrick Barivieva and his wife, Jess, of Blanchard, and Jeremy Barivieva of Blanchard; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. Interment with military honors will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
