He was born March 14, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma to Robert
Ridley Hunter and Alta Mae (Sawyers) Hunter. He was a 1957 graduate of
Stonewall High School. He was married to Sharon Francis Phillips for a short
period. During their union they had two daughters together, Tandala Elaina
and Tonya Renee. He served as a pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard and
flew standby during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but was never activated. He
enjoyed piloting for years after his time in the service. Jim then worked at
Tinker Air Force base in Civil Services where he met his beloved wife, Mary
Ruth (Black) Hunter. Jim and Mary were married until Mary passed in 2008.
Together, they ran a successful business in Del City, Oklahoma, Jim and
Mary’s T.V. and Appliance for 25 years. They enjoyed raising animals on
their farm and spending time with their family and friends. Jim was a
successful business man, maintaining several rental properties throughout
the metro area. Jim spent the latter years of his life attending family
activities, eating good food, traveling and enjoying the company of his
loving companion of the last ten years, Ms. Vicky Hysell, who held a very
special place in his heart.,
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
