He married Hattie Ellen (Pierce) on March 20, 1943 in Cordell, Oklahoma. Virgil was a farmer and rancher and worked for many years as an expeditor at Tinker Air Force Base.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hattie Holsted; a son, Eddie Holsted; one brother; and three sisters.
He is survived by one son, Ronnie Holsted and his wife, Sherry of Blanchard; one daughter, Kay Lowry and her husband Paul of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Tammy Wood and her husband Andy of Frisco, Texas, Hanna Holsted of Blanchard, Hayley Holsted of Oklahoma City, and David Roley of Norman; two great grandchildren, Audrey Vorderlandwehr and Addyson Wood; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be
at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 27, 2012, at the First United
Methodist Church in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the
Blanchard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK
73123.
