Douglas Glenn Hawkins, 60, of Blanchard, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, in Chickasha. The son of Louis Glenn Hawkins and Dorothy Mae (Thomson) Hawkins, he was born November 28, 1955 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Doug married Melinda Sue Faulkner on March 17, 2001 in Cole, Oklahoma. He was a police sergeant for Oklahoma City Police Department and retired after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Oklahoma Brown Swiss Association and the National Brown Swiss Association. He was a Baptist in faith. Doug enjoyed ranching, OSU football, Thunder basketball, and cooking. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hawkins; grandparents, Myron and Edith Thomson and Lee and Mildred Hawkins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delbert G. and Bertha Mae Faulkner; brother-in-law, David Faulkner; cousins, Traci Boelte and Mitchell Hawkins.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Hawkins of Blanchard; his mother, Dorothy Bridwell of Blanchard; a sister, Chris Stewart and her husband, Randy, of Blanchard; a daughter, Keri Hunter of Oklahoma City; stepsons, Trey Posey and Joye of Tulsa and William Posey of Blanchard; grandchildren, Teresa “T.J.” Hunter of the home, Kaden Hunter of Kansas, Ava Posey and Evan Posey of Tulsa; nephew, Dusty Stewart and his wife, Rhonda, of Blanchard; a host of aunts and uncles; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
