Carl Franklin, 96, of Newcastle, died Friday. August 25, 2017, in Norman, Oklahoma. The son of Elwood and Elsie (Smith) Franklin, he was born January 15, 1921, in Davidson, Tennessee.
Carl worked as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #124. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and tinkering with anything that had a motor. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hope Franklin; two daughters, Linda Upton and Carol Manous; a grandson, Logan Manous; one brother, Clyde Franklin; and two sisters, Louise Huff and Jeraldine McIntire.
Carl is survived by one son, Carl M. Franklin and his wife, Bonita, of Newcastle; a son-in-law, Leon Manous of Newcastle; three grandchildren, Ryan Upton of Virginia, Bo Tucker of Sapulpa, and Anna Franklin of Midwest City; seven great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
