He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Harlan married Joy Maxine Crockett on August 23, 1952 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and was a Christian in faith. He loved meeting people and enjoyed traveling, especially traveling in Europe. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting records and loved listening to music. Harlan enjoyed working with his hands and could build almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Luann Foster; a son-in-law, Phillip Steelman; and a sister, Fernella Hawkins.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Joy Foster, of Noble; two daughters, Katherine Steelman and her husband, Dan Carter, of Tulsa and Laurie Young of Noble; one son, Joe Foster, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Vanessa, Nathan, Andrea, Jacob, James, and Grant; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Carrick, of Norman; a sister-in-law, Jane Cox, of Newcastle; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
