Yvdonn Fisher, 68, of Newcastle passed away Saturday July 29 at his home in Newcastle. He was born on March 19, 1938 in Dewitt, Ark. He was the fifth child of 10 children born to Richard Ralph Fisher and Ruby Irene Williams Fisher.

Yvdonn grew up in Dewitt, Ark. where he learned how to work hard as a young boy, working in the cotton fields. He later met and married a young lady from Oklahoma City by the name of Carolyn Jacob.

They were married on August 16, 1957 in Oklahoma City. After they were married they lived in Arkansas for one and one-half years and then they returned to the Oklahoma City area.

Yvdonn worked nearly 48 years as a residential carpenter and was well known for his honesty, hard working and building talents. In 1975 his family moved to the Newcastle, where he raised his family and was a faithful member of the Church Of The Firstborn.

Throughout his life he has always been an Arkansas Razorback football and basketball fan. Yvdonn loved being outdoors, whether it was working in his yard or building something for himself or somebody. He enjoyed listening to gospel music; he had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, a special brother and uncle, and a good friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ruby Fisher; and three sisters, Margaret Vaughn, Ivalo Butler and Fredella Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; one son, Ricky Fisher and wife Tammy of Tahoka, Texas; two daughters, Tonett Fisher of the home and Angie Carmichael and husband Galen of Newcastle; five brothers, Kenneth Fisher and wife Arcenia of Dewitt, Ark., Charlie Fisher of Lexington, Lester Fisher and wife Donna of Newcastle, Walter Fisher and wife Sue of Sherwood, Ark., and Eddie Fisher of Moore; one sister, Faye Coit and husband Edward of Dewitt, Ark.; two brothers-in-law, Doyle Butler of Blanchard and Tony Vaughn of Dewitt, Ark.; four grandchildren, Morgan, Braiden, Cort and Kerstyn; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at the Newcastle Church Of The Firstborn. Officiating was Minister Jeff Jones and Elder Kent Willoughby. Pallbearers were Phillip Vandeveer Sr., Phillip Vandeveer Jr., Cory Vandeveer, Bob Arnold, Terry Arnold and Perry Henderson. Honorary bearer was Jerry Pilon. Interment was be at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
