Orville Allen “O.A.” Doyle, Jr., 88, of Blanchard, passed Friday, October 12, 2018, at his home. The son of Orville Allen Doyle, Sr. and Willie Aileen (Collins) Doyle, he was born January 29, 1930, in Hunt County, Texas.
O.A. married Jewel Betty John Covington on November 24, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. O.A. worked as a paint contractor for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ. In his early years, O.A. was drafted into the minor leagues to play baseball. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and was a big supporter of Little League baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Chris Butler; four sisters, Elizabeth Doyle, Juanita Pruett, Billie Branch, and Mary Griffin; and two brothers, Richard Doyle and Kenneth Doyle.
O.A. is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Betty Doyle of Blanchard; two daughters, Bridget Butler of Blanchard and Toni Welchel and her husband, Roy Dean, of Cole; four grandchildren, Heather Chay Sowers and husband, Charles, of Dibble, Crissy McAnally and husband, Steven, of Oklahoma City, Chad Doyle and wife, Dustie, of Dibble, and Angela Musick and husband, Paul, of Blanchard; five great grandchildren, Austin, Jamey, Camden, Maverick, and Averi; one brother, Lewis Doyle of North Richland Hills, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral will service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Jewel Betty John (Covington) Doyle, 91, passed away on March 4, 2023. The daughter of Joseph John and Effie (Williams) Covington, Betty was born on December 5, 1931, in Wise County, Texas.
Betty grew up in Texas. She married Orville Allen “OA” Doyle on November 24, 1950. They were blessed with two daughters, Bridget and Toni. They lived in Texas, then moved to Dibble for about five years, then back to Texas, then one more final move to Blanchard about twenty five years ago. Their love for their family kept bringing them back. Betty worked for many years for Bell Helicopter as a mail clerk. She was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ where her church family was very important to Betty. Betty loved to play Bridge with her Bridge Club. She also enjoyed Wahoo and Skipbo and was quite competitive. In her younger years, Betty was very athletic and excelled in volleyball. She also was quite a dirt bike rider. She enjoyed gardening and her pet duck, Waddles. (Yes, you read that right.) But most of all, Betty adored her family and especially the grandchildren. She and OA were sure to attend all of their activities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband OA Doyle; two sisters; two brothers; and one son-in-law, Chris Butler.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Bridget Butler and Toni Welchel and husband Roy Dean, all of Blanchard; grandchildren, Chay Sowers and husband Chuck, Crissy McAnally and husband Steve, Chad Doyle and wife Dustie, Angie Musick and husband Paul, and Kristy Garvey and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Austin, Jamey, Camden, Maverick, Averi, Lainey Jewel, and Dean; brother, Rodney Covington of Ft. Worth; and other family members, friends and church family.
Funeral services for Betty will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Blanchard Cemetery.
