Eisenhour Funeral Home
Blanchard, McClain Co, OK
(permission granted)
Both of Ray’s parents were totally blind and his birth caused quite a stir among family and friends who all thought the new baby would be naturally blind because both of his parents were.
Ray is survived by his wife and love of his life Marjetta of the home. He has four children, Douglas of Lexington, Gayla and Ray of Thousand Oaks, California, Marla and David of Yukon, Toby and wife Kim of Blanchard. He has six grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, Lacie, Jackie, Jessica, and Courtney. He has three brothers Wilburn and wife Connie of Boise City, Paul and wife Jo Ann, Gary and wife Terri and one sister Sally Rockelman, all of Utah. Ray has two sisters in law Barbara Harris and Leslie McCraw of Blanchard and host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister Fannie.
Ray’s entire life was one of service and pride; he spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy following his retirement he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service transferring to FAA where he worked for 25 years. He was a devoted husband, dad, and loving Pa. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a true and loyal friend. To describe Ray’s life I have chosen to use Ray’s own words I don’t think anyone could say it better. “I spent 20 years in the United States Military service for our country. I was in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Carp, the U.S.S. Bonefish, The U.S.S. Sargo, the U.S.S. Sculpin, the U.S.S. Gurnard and the nuclear powered U.S.S. Kamehameha. I have been on 4 continents Australia, the Orient, and South America. I have seen the moonlight glistening off of the snow in Australia’s snowy river country. I have seen the sunrise over Japan’s beautiful Mount Fujiama, but by far the most beautiful sight I have ever seen is the sight of Old Glory flying from the stern of one of America’s giant war ships signifying the strength of this great nation of ours as if saying to the rest of the world (don’t rattle the big dog’s chain). I love all of my family and friends and I remain forever and always proud to be an American.”
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Crossroads to Life Baptist Church in Blanchard. Reverend Chris Carter and Reverend Greg Adams will officiate with interment held in the Blanchard Cemetery.
