Alice Louise Cody was born August 13, 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Robert James and Carolyn Frances Tyree. Ms. Cody passed away on January 12, 2018 at Blanchard, Oklahoma after a lengthy illness.
Alice was a retired civil servant. She began her career at Bell Telephone Company in Chickasha, Oklahoma then at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. She later worked several years as a civilian employee for the US Military; working at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, at Sembach and Ramstein Air Force Bases in Germany, and at Fort Lewis Army Base in Tacoma, Washington. When she returned to Oklahoma she lived several years in Newcastle and worked at the FAA and the US Post Office in Oklahoma City before retiring and later moving to Elmore City. She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed working around her home.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, one brother, Robert “Bob” Tyree, Jr., and one sister, Carol Burris.
She is survived by one brother, Brian Tyree of Arlington, Texas and two sisters, Mary Smith of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Barbara Tomsen of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alice is also survived by two sons, Jon K. Barnett of Lexington, Oklahoma and Rick Richey and wife, Sharon E., of Fort Worth, Texas; and one daughter, Sharon Annesley and husband, Danny, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; and one grandson, Clinton Roberts of Blanchard, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Marla Dotzel and husband, Justin, of Fort Worth, Texas; and one great-grandson, Justin Thomas “J.T.” Dotzell, II, also of Fort Worth, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family. She was very proud of her great-grandson “J.T.”
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
