Richard Gene Clanton, 68, of Blanchard, died Sunday, September 9, 2018, in Norman.
The son of Norbra Richard “Dick” Clanton and Geneva Mildrene (Bowring) Clanton, he was born July 10, 1950 in Chickasha. Richard married Jennifer Jones on June 22, 1973 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was a long-time member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as security and helped with the yardwork. He owned and operated Bowring Tax Service in Blanchard for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching professional wrestling and OU football, traveling, and enjoyed trying new and different kinds of candy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Shane Clanton.
Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jennifer Clanton, of Blanchard; two daughters, Heather Clanton of Oklahoma City and Hollie Garner and her husband, Alston, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one son, Kyle Clanton of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Austin Clanton and his wife, Taylor, of Moore, Justin Clanton of Norman, Alissa Hinshaw of Tuttle, Aubrie, Olivia, and Nora Garner, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Kapri Clanton of Shawnee; one great granddaughter, Rosealeigh Hinshaw; two brothers, Tony Clanton of Blanchard and Chuck Clanton of South Carolina; and many other loved ones and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the funeral home.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.
