Burnett served in the United States Air Force and was a Baptist in faith. He married Bonnie Mae Gandy on September 5, 1952 in Oklahoma City. He worked in maintenance at Tinker Air Force Base for several years before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He enjoyed fixing things and always had a project he was working on. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Michael and Gabriel Buck; three sisters, Joan Thomson, Loretta Wilson, and Wanda Witt; and a brother, Tony K. Burris.
Burnett is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie Burris of Shawnee; four daughters, Sidney Thrower and husband, Larry, of Checotah, Karen Wallace and husband, Alton, of Wanette, Carolyn Kinsey of Seminole, and Linda Shafer and husband, Clint, of Nicoma Park; one son, Ted Burris of Broken Arrow; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three sisters, Karen McConnell and husband, Jimmy, of Blanchard; Jennifer Kniss of Oklahoma City, and Diana Judy Simms and husband Charlie, of Newcastle; two brothers, Terry Burris and wife, Diana, of Norman, and Perry Burris of Blanchard; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at
the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the
Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour
