Samuel “Sam” Broyles, 69, of Blanchard, died Friday, November
27, 2015, at his home. The son of Maurice Eugene Broyles and Bertie Mae
(Strickland) Broyles, he was born March 3, 1946, in Okeechobee, Florida. Sam
married Nancy Olivia Prigmore on January 26, 1970, in Gainesville, Texas.
Sam served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion where he served as Past
Commander and Treasurer. Sam was very proud of his service to his country and
went out of his way to help other veterans with anything they needed. He was an
active member of Christ Chapel in Blanchard where he served as head usher and
was on the Board of Trustees. Sam worked as a tool and die maker for Dayton Tire
Company in Oklahoma City and retired in 2006 after 37 years of service. In his
spare time, Sam enjoyed gardening, shooting guns, and was very active in the
Tri-City Gun Club. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his
family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Brock Franklin.
Sam is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Nancy Broyles of Blanchard; his
granddaughter that he raised, Haley Marie Broyles of Blanchard; two sons, Samuel
Wayne Broyles and his wife, Robin, of Blanchard, and Ronald Eugene Broyles and
his wife, Genette, of Del City; nine other grandchildren, Elizabeth Broyles,
Claudia Irene Broyles, Robert Wayne Broyles, Shaney Corene Eddings, Veronica
Lane Broyles, Emily Nicole Broyles, Randy Eddings, Jr., Rebecca Latisnere, and
Steven Eddings; nine great grandchildren and one more on the way; three sisters,
Betty Reeves of Moore, Irene Hickman of Blanchard, and Jeanie Franklin of
Blanchard; one brother, Frank Broyles and his wife, Gail, of Blanchard; numerous
nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Christ Chapel
in Blanchard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be
made to the Christ Chapel Building Fund, P.O. Box 792, Blanchard, Oklahoma
73010. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of
