Joe was a lifelong resident of Blanchard and married Kathryn Sarah McDaniel on May 1, 1952 in Chickasha. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Blanchard VFW and American Legion. He loved his country very much and never missed voting in an election. He worked for many years as a truck driver and spent his spare time farming and ranching. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blanchard and enjoyed playing pitch, livestock shows, and ballgames. He loved his family very much and received great joy from his children, grandchildren, and great grandson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, O.T. Brooks.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kathryn Brooks of Blanchard; son, Mack Brooks and wife Diana of Blanchard; daughter, Kathy Agee of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Darla Larza and husband Johnny of Blanchard, Brooke Agee of Dallas, Texas, Cody Brooks and Sarah Agee, both of Blanchard; great grandson Jase Larza of Blanchard; sisters, Wynona Driskell of Duncan and Carolyn Terrell and her husband Marvin of Marlow; sister-in-law, Linda Brooks of Blanchard; several nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Reverend Braunell Richey and Reverend John Boyd will officiate with interment held in the Blanchard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Heartland Hospice, 1923 Atchison Drive, Norman, Oklahoma 73069. She married Harvey Joe Brooks on May 1, 1952, in Chickasha. Kathryn was a lifelong resident of Blanchard and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, shopping, and working around her house and yard. She was an excellent cook and was always doing for others. She was an avid OKC Thunder fan and loved listening to country music. Kathryn’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Joe Brooks; and her sister, Syble Allen.
Kathryn is survived by one daughter, Kathy Agee, of Blanchard; one son, Mack Brooks and his wife, Diana, of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Darla Larza and her husband, Johnny, of Blanchard, Brooke Agee of Chicago, Illinois, Cody Brooks and his wife, Amanda, of Blanchard, and Sarah Agee of Blanchard; one great grandson, Jase Larza, of Blanchard; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
