Funeral services for Ella Loretta Bottoms, 83, Norman, formerly of Blanchard, are 1 p.m. today at Wilson-Little Chapel in Purcell. Burial will be at Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard.
Mrs. Bottoms passed away April 2, 2012, at Norman.
She was born May 6, 1928, in Ada, the second of 10 children born to Charlie Franklin Hopkins and Myrtie (Hobbs) Hopkins. She attended school at the Egypt School, a one room school house in the Walnut Creek Community. She grew up helping her parents on the family farm and later married William Kincaid “Bill” Bottoms Oct. 28, 1946, in Ada. They moved to Oklahoma City where they made their home and raised two children; daughter Barbara and son, Gerald Wayne. She and William sponsored many foster children over the years through Child Fund and she actively contributed to Feed the Children and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She was a process checker for AT & T and in 1961 they moved to Blanchard where they remained living for 36 years. They moved to Wayne in 1997 and then to Norman in 2010.
Mrs. Bottoms is survived by a daughter, Barbara Carol Lowrance and husband Jack of Phoenix, Ariz; four sisters, Verlene McGuire, Oklahoma City, Ellen Hopkins, Dibble, Joyce Robbins and husband Ralph, Oklahoma City and Sylvia Yvonne Jones, Blanchard; two brothers, Charles Wayne Hopkins and wife Linda, Dibble and Gerald Lynn Hopkins, Yukon; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bottoms; son: Gerald Wayne Bottoms; parents: Charlie and Myrtie Hopkins; and three sisters: Loretha Sneed, Charline Ledford and Inez Chester.

Funeral services for Mr. Bottoms, 84, of Norman, formerly of Blanchard, were held Feb. 18, 2012 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Bottoms passed away at the Veterans Center.
Born the oldest son of Allie Alexander and Lennie Ruth (Kincaid) Bottoms, he grew up in Pauls Valley and attended school there until his Jr. year. At that time he began working at Tinker Air Force Base as a junior mechanic.
Joining the US Navy on May 2, 1945, he proudly served his country during WWII. Stationed on Guam, he was a Seabee and helped build the island's air base.
After being honorably discharged, he returned to OK and met Ella Loretta Hopkins. Married October 28, 1946 in Ada, OK, they made their home in OKC and raised 2 children. He returned to Tinker and in 1961 moved to Blanchard where they remained for 36 years. In 1974, he retired from as an Aircraft Mechanic and they moved to Wayne, OK, in 1997, and then Norman in 2010.
Owning a servants heart, he gave of himself over the years to many volunteer organizations. In Blanchard, he volunteered for the Jesus House, and over the years he and Ella sponsored many foster children abroad and locally through Child Fund. A Mr. Fix it, when he moved to the assisted living center he took his tools always looking for something to work on. If he couldn't find anything, he would help others with their laundry. He was a lifetime member of the Del City VFW Post 9969.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Gerald Wayne Bottoms in 2007; sister, Genevive Marie Lane and brothers, James and Hugh Bottoms.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Loretta Bottoms; daughter, Barbara Lowrance; two brothers, John and Paul Bottoms; two sisters-in-law, Becky and Yolanda Bottoms; two grandchildren, Sherry Peyton and Stacey Tarrant and 11 great-grandchildren.
