Vaughncille “Vonnie” (Brinkley) Bewley, 81, passed away at her home in Moore, on Sunday, May 7, 2023. The daughter of Harold Hubert and Imogene Mae (Akin) Brinkley, Vonnie was born on May 18, 1941, in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Vonnie grew up in Elk City and graduated from Elk City High School. She married Wayne Bewley on February 26, 1965. During her working career, Vonnie worked at Meridian Lanes. She loved this job as she was also a professional bowler for a time. She was a member of the Women’s Pro Bowlers Association. She later worked at MTM Recognition (also known as Midwest Trophy) where she enjoyed paying attention to detail as she worked in medal packaging.
Vonnie’s parents were horse trainers which inspired her love for watching horse racing. She enjoyed riding her custom-made Harley Davison motorcycle. Vonnie was an amazing cook. She also liked to plant a garden and pick wild blackberries, which she would make into jelly. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by them all.
Vonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Zelewski; sister, Geraldine Bonny; and brother, Bruce Brinkley.
She is survived by her husband 58 years, Wayne Bewley of Moore; two daughters, Ginger Reeder and husband Mickey of Moore and Brandy Edwards of Del City; three grandchildren; five bonus grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
