David Michael “Dave” Almquist, 77, of Blanchard, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, in Oklahoma City. The son of Dr. Richard Theodore Malcolm Almquist and Hazel Ann (Srite) Almquist, he was born October 21, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri. Dave served in the United States Air Force from April 1, 1957 to January 20, 1961 where he achieved the rank of Airman 2nd Class.   He married the love of his life, Joyce Lorene Raibourn, on July 14, 1967, in Oklahoma City. He worked as a mechanic for various car dealerships before opening his own mechanic shop in Blanchard.

Dave was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and lived his life to the fullest. He always kept the people around him in laughter with his endless antics.

He was a member of the Blanchard Masonic Lodge and was a Past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the clown unit of the India Shrine, the Scottish Rite, and the American Legion. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed hunting, clowning, swimming at the YMCA, going to the coffee shop, and riding his motorcycle. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lorene Almquist of Blanchard; one son, Steven Almquist of Blanchard; three daughters, Suzanne Almquist Blanton and her husband, Dee, of Mansfield, Texas, Kellee Sloan of Blanchard, and Kristal Almquist Cochran and her husband, Martin, of Edmond; three grandchildren, Kayla Sloan, Cody Sloan, and Cory Sloan, all of Blanchard; one great granddaughter, Harly Sloan of Blanchard; one sister, Markeeta Ann LeRay of Springdale, Arkansas; nephews, Todd Hopwood of Springdale, Arkansas, and Robert Hopwood of Yukon, and their families; a host of in-laws and their families; his extended family, Carl and Pat Green, their children, Louis and Carlissa, and their families; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to the Blanchard Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
