(permission granted)

Barbara Anne Allen, 79, passed away peacefully in her Tuttle home on Saturday June 27.

She lost a year-long battle against cancer which took her life. Barbara spent the last few weeks of her life at home being cared for compassionately by her devoted husband Jesse Allen, her youngest son Jeffrey Allen, and a team of attentive hospice nurses. They were supported by other family members and wonderful friends.

Barbara was born Mar 13, 1941, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Her parents, Ferrall and Wilda Mae Hurley, of Chickasha, preceded her in death 20 years ago.

Barbara is survived by Jesse, her husband of 48 years. Prior to Barbara’s marriage to Jesse, she had 3 sons: Kirk, Keith and David Whitener. Barbara and Jesse had one son, Jeffrey, together. She had one stepdaughter, Peggy. Daughter-in-laws Jena (Keith’s wife) and Min (Kirk’s wife) were also dear to Barbara. Barbara had grandchildren: Alicia Cosby, Ashland Ashcraft, Brendan and Kael Lushbough, Lauren Allen, Michael Whitener, Jun Zhou and Joseph Franks She had 4 great grandchildren: Maci Kay and Asher Cole Franks, Brooklynne and Wyatt Cosby; and has one on the way, Harrison Ashcraft, who is expected in August. Barbara was the oldest of three children. Brothers Bob and George have also survived her.

Barbara grew up in Chickasha as part of a loving and hard-working family. She loved music and was a talented vocalist, pianist, and French horn player. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1959 and attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. In the 1960’s, her 3 young boys became her life’s focus. She supported them by working as a bookkeeper in various Oklahoma City businesses including Wilson Foods, where she met Jesse in 1971. In 1972, they married and moved to Tuttle where they have kept their warm home for their family to this day. Barbara continued her career in the accounting departments of Oklahoma City energy companies including Kerr-McGee, Devon Energy, and Mustang Fuel until her retirement. While retired, she lived a peaceful, quiet life with Jesse, reading, gardening, cheering on the Oklahoma sports teams, socializing with her neighbors, and spending time preparing wonderful home cooked meals for her family and friends.

Barbara will be missed by her family and friends. Their memories of her will be cherished forever.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
