Laura Jane "Janie" Russell
February 11, 1931 - December 7, 2024

Laura Jane Russell, 93, a resident of Spavinaw, Oklahoma passed away at her home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by her family. Laura was born on February 11, 1931, in Kenwood, Oklahoma to Mary Wickliffe. Laura became very resourceful growing up and was a fantastic mother, stepmother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as a high-end seamstress at dress shops. She waited on her family hand and foot, they never wanted for anything. Janie was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. She stayed active volunteering for her tribe for many years. Mrs. Russell was preceded in passing by her mom Mary, her son David Lipe and grandson's Jack Jackson and Alvin Rayl, her first husband George William Lipe, her second husband Raymond T. Russell along with her sister Nell Campbell.

Survivors who will carry on Janie's legacy are her children George Lipe and his wife Irene, Rick Lipe, and his wife Jeannie and David Lipe, Nancy Russell, Mary Ann Hoffman, Raymond Russell and his wife Pam and Michael Russell and his wife Shannon, and her daughter in law Catherine Hannah her grandchildren Laura Lipe, Terri Lee, Michelle Sutton and her husband Carl, Cindy Lowry and her husband Todd, Corey Lipe and his wife Valerie, Tina Willis and her husband Donnie, Davy Lipe, Jill Noble, Lisa Myers, Stevie Russell and his wife Megan, Ryan Russell and his wife Lindsay, Mitch Russel and his wife Lauren Mikie Russell and his wife Shannon, Brody Russell, Calvin Compton and Chris Shocklee, Michelle Russell and Keenan Scott, great grandchildren Tori Hernandez, Ian Thornberry, Joshua Condon, Catherine Sutton, Michael Lipe, Seth Hartline, Hayden Lowry, Benjamin Hartline, Hunter Lowry, Samual Harltine Corben Lipe Kaleb Lipe, Richard Lipe, Skyla Willis, Lily Willis, Dasan Willis, Tanner Keenan, Shelby Keenan, Bailey Freeman, Rachell Freeman, Justus Noble, Owen Noble, Traten Myers, Chase Myers, Evey Myers, Jaxson Russell, Ruby Russell, Collin Russell, Bryer Russell, Rylea Russell, Colt Russell, Caroline Russell, Liam Russell, Avery Russell and Collins Russell along with nineteen great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Stephens-Key Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Pryor.

Services will be at 2:00 PM, following the visitation at Stephens-Key Funeral Home and Cremation Care Chapel in Pryor. Interment will follow at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery.
