Wilma Jean Adair
January 16, 1927 - November 13, 2025
Wilma Jean Walker Adair, age 98, passed away November 13, 2025 in Monument, CO, surrounded by family. Wilma Jean was born on January 16, 1927 in Spavinaw, OK, where she grew up. She met and married Bill Adair, Jr. while attending Strang High School. They were married 69 years. She was a longtime member of the Spavinaw United Methodist Church.
Wilma wore many hats throughout her fruitful life. She was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as, a caring sister and aunt. She adored family gatherings, especially holiday and birthday celebrations where talk, laughter, and good food prevailed. She could hardly wait for dessert!
Wilma also had a professional side. She became a beautician as a young adult and ran a shop from her home in Spavinaw. After that, she worked long hours with Bill at their Tastee-Freez business in Tulsa. In her late 40's, she pursued a nursing career and became an LPN. She was a dedicated nurse at the hospital in Pryor for several years.
Wilma liked to dress in stylish clothes and accessories, always making sure her jewelry and lipstick were in place. She was equally particular about the neatness and appearance of her home, for which she was fondly nicknamed, Aunt "Patick"!
The simple pleasures in life made her happy. She enjoyed savoring her morning coffee and admiring Nature's beauty. She often fed the birds and raccoons at her Spavinaw home. She was fascinated by snow, but also delighted in sunshine.
Wilma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Cenyard Walker and Leilah Von Holt Walker; brothers, Glen and little E.C.; sisters, Inez, Clarice "Sally" and Carmen; husband, Joseph William Adair, Jr.; son, Dr. Joe Bill Adair.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Montgomery and husband, Bo (Larkspur, CO); grandchildren, Mindy Montgomery (Castle Rock, CO), Clint Montgomery and wife, Cassie (Aurora, CO), and Katy Montgomery (Colorado Springs, CO); daughter in law, Melanie Nelson Adair (Chattanooga, TN); sister, Marjorie Ann Wallace (Spavinaw, OK).
We love you and miss you, Nanny!
