Joseph William "Bill" Adair, Jr.
November 24, 1925 - January 23, 2014
Joseph William "Bill" Adair, Jr., age 88, passed from this life on January 23, 2014, in Castle Rock, CO. Bill was born in Pensacola, OK, on November 24, 1925. He grew up in Strang, OK, and lived the rest of his life in Tulsa and Spavinaw.
A World War II veteran, Bill bravely served as a B-17 tailgunner in the Army Air Corps. For over 10 years, he worked for Continental Baking Company in Tulsa. After that, he owned and operated the Tastee-Freez (known for its outstanding hamburgers) at Apache and Yale.
Bill was a proud member of the Cherokee nation. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and sportsman. He enjoyed gardening and sharing what he grew with others. He also enjoyed sharing stories about his many interesting life experiences. Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, and Past Master at Adair Lodge No. 99. He belonged to the Spavinaw United Methodist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William, Sr. and Cora Ann Adair and his five siblings, Betty, Allan, Ruth, Henry, and Mary June.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Wilma Jean Walker Adair; two children, Joe Bill and wife Melanie of Chattanooga, TN, and Jean Ann Montgomery and husband Bo of Larkspur, CO, and three grandchildren, Mindy, Clint, and Katy Montgomery of Larkspur, CO. He is also survived by his thoughtful and caring sister-in-law, Marjorie Wallace, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill loved his family very much. He will be missed immeasurably.
