Sydna Forrest was born on Feb. 19, 1935, in Carlsbad, N.M. She is the daughter of Roy Frances and Nettie Pearl (Michael) Jackson.
She married Raymond (R.C.) Forrest on Aug. 2, 1950. This union was blessed with five children.
Sydna was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother – lovingly known as "Granny Grunt."
She and her husband R.C. lived on a farm and raised their family there.
Her spare time was spent crocheting, knitting, canning, cooking, and making the best biscuits for miles around.
A Christian by faith, she was called home from her labors on May 17, 2011, in Tahlequah, with her family at her side. She was 76 years old.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond, Forrest; and one son, Randy Forrest.
She is survived by her loving children, Edgar "Railey" Forrest of Tahlequah; daughter Reta Leavitt and husband Ed, of Rose; Virgie Wolfe and James Mason, both of Pryor; and Lynetta Moore and husband John of Charlotte, N.C.
Her legacy lives on in her nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, W.D. Jackson of Mesa, Ariz., and many friends and loved ones.
