Thomas Potts
March 10, 2004 - November 29, 2024

Thomas Potts was born on March 10, 2004, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Jared Dewayne and Kendall Kendra (McDougal) Potts. He passed from this life on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 20 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

A lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Thomas graduated from Locust Grove High School with the Class of 2023. From an early age, he had a knack for adventure, starting with his battery-operated John Deere Gator. His great-grandfather, Johnny, later taught him to ride a four-wheeler on the family's land near the lake, where they spent countless hours exploring the hills. Johnny gifted Thomas his own four-wheeler, and when that one wore out, another followed. Over the years, Thomas mastered the trails and roads, creating memories full of joy and exhilaration.

During his school years, Thomas built lifelong friendships and enjoyed playing football and baseball. Most recently, he worked as a dockmaster for GXO handling the loading and unloading of shipments. Outdoors was his favorite place to be. He loved his dogs, especially Shorty and Bear. He also liked to raise and care for the turtles and fish in his aquarium.

Known for his kind heart, quick wit, and radiant smile, Thomas was a constant source of laughter. His joy and humor brightened the lives of everyone around him. Above all, Thomas cherished his family and friends, holding the time spent with them close to his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thomas is survived by: his father: Jared Potts and April Ketterman of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Kaleb Potts and Layne Henson of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Harper Potts of Briggs, Oklahoma; paternal grandparents: Jeanette and Wayne Cole of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Kimball and Lisa Potts of Morris, Oklahoma; maternal great grandparents: Johnny and Mary Marney of Salina, Oklahoma; Thomas' girlfriend: Madison Hunt of the home; numerous aunts and uncles including: Brad and Rhonda Potts, Daniel Riley and Saddie McClure, Kimberly Honea, Seth Wahnee, Randy Wahnee, Heather Wahnee, Chelsea Potts, and Kevin Potts; several great aunts and uncles that include: Gary and Carlotta Cooper and Marilyn Cooper. Numerous cousins, including: Randi Whitman and Hadley Honea, as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kendall Potts; maternal grandmother, Debra Ann (Marney) Clark; maternal grandfather, Ken McDougal; paternal great-grandparents, Gene and Joyce Cooper; one uncle, Loren Lape; and great-uncles, Johnnie Marney and Harold Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, officiated by Pastor Jeff Blair. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery in Rose, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
