Bill Mounce
March 22, 1941 - December 6, 2024

Billy Leon Mounce, born March 22, 1941, in Bunch, Oklahoma, to Loyd and Hattie (McCoy) Mounce, departed this life on Friday, December 6, 2024, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 14 days.

Bill spent his early years in the Stilwell and Locust Grove areas, where he attended school. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Bill lived in various places, including Alaska and Texas, before returning to the Locust Grove area. A man of many talents and ventures, Bill owned car lots and a trucking company, managed a refinery in Louisiana, and operated several bars. Closer to home, he ran the Valley Hill Dog Kennel near Rose, Oklahoma.

Bill's adventurous spirit and zest for life kept him active. During his time in Alaska, he raced snowmobiles. He always enjoyed fishing trips with his buddy, Skip Morton. His long-standing friendship with Frankie Bates was a cherished part of his life as well. Bill was a regular at the local bait shop, where he shared stories over coffee with friends. Known for his wit and knowledge, Bill had the remarkable ability to engage with people from all walks of life - even rubbing elbows with celebrities like Barry Switzer. An avid reader and a man of deep curiosity, he enriched the lives of those who knew him.

Bill is survived by his one son, two daughters, an ex-wife, nephew Jeff Tyler and wife Vicki of Haskell, Oklahoma, numerous other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Maynard Mounce, R.C. Mounce, J.T. Mounce, and Bob Mounce; and two sisters: Opal Walker and Louise Montgomery.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Rose Cemetery in Rose, Oklahoma, with Brother Shawn Bates officiating. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. To leave thoughts, memories, or condolences, please visit www.locustgrovefuneralhome.com.
