Wilma Jean Warren
August 5, 1936 - August 31, 2025

Wilma Jean (Evans) Warren, known affectionately by her brothers as "Whimp", was born August 5, 1936, in Locust Grove, OK, to William Edgar Evans and Stella Edith Viola (Stipes) Harvey. A lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Wilma attended Oak Hill & Locust Grove Public Schools. She departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 2025, in Tahlequah, OK, at the age of 89 years & 26 days.

On January 9, 1954, Wilma married the love of her life, Jack Dempsey Warren. With $500 in his wallet, the couple stopped in El Dorado, KS, & were wed before setting out together on life's journey. Jack was a truck driver, & Wilma often rode along, traveling across the country & especially enjoying runs to California. Together they raised two daughters, Jacqueline & Glenda, & shared over 46 years of marriage before Jack's passing on April 26, 2000.

Wilma was a devoted homemaker & also a hard-working businesswoman. She owned & operated Wilma's Laundromat & later the Locust Grove Package Store, retiring in 2000 after selling the store. Wilma loved singing with her brothers & sisters & playing second guitar, often traveling to different churches & events to share their music. She believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was also known to remind her daughters, "You never know when I'm going to show up", keeping them mindful & in line.

In her spare time, Wilma loved to travel & never turned down an opportunity to go to the casino, especially Fort Gibson, where she enjoyed the slot machines. She was fun to be around, always ready for an adventure, & was deeply devoted to her family, enjoying a close relationship with her mother. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events & supporting them in all they did.

Wilma is survived by: 2 daughters: Jacqueline Jenkins of Tahlequah, OK & Glenda Anderson & husband Joe of Locust Grove, OK; 6 grandkids: Shawnda Pursley & husband Klint of Locust Grove, OK, Gwen Knott & husband John of Pryor, OK, Angela DeCamp of Locust Grove, OK, Dymiti Anderson of Hulbert, OK, Lakyn Phillips & husband Jeremy of Peggs, OK, & Dakota Jenkins of Locust Grove, OK; 10 great grandkids: Traden Sokoloski & wife Brittany of Pryor, OK, Kennedy Dubbert & husband Trey of Catoosa, OK, Madison Davis of Stillwater, OK, Jansyn Davis of Locust Grove, OK, Mackenzie Pursley of Strang, OK, Slip Knott of Locust Grove, OK, Daison Pursley of Locust Grove, OK, Taber Anderson of Locust Grove, OK, Kayl Anderson of Locust Grove, OK, Ledger Phillips of Locust Grove, OK, & Spur LeDoux Anderson of Locust Grove, OK; 6 great-great grandchildren: Taytin Davis, Kyan Davis, Jett Stanley, Tazz Davis, Beckham Dubbert, Sloane Stanley, with 1 on the way: Colson Sokoloski, & an honorary great-great grandson: Kale Shatswell; 2 brothers: Jack Lee Evans & wife Nellie, of Locust Grove, OK, & Rick Harvey of Langley, OK; 1 special aunt: Wanda Stipes of Locust Grove, OK; Numerous other relatives & a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; two sisters: Mary Lee Shields & Connie Christie; & one brother: William Glen Evans.

Graveside services for Wilma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, with Brother Shawn Bates officiating. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
