Charlie Stewart
January 23, 1955 - October 11, 2024

Charles Richard Stewart, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The son of Gerald Stewart and Mable Louise (Dickson) Stewart-Pazzo, he was born in Marietta, Oklahoma, on January 23, 1955. Charles lived a life full of dedication, hard work, and love for his family and friends.

Charlie grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, and graduated from Enid High School in 1973. He later pursued training at the Spartan School of Aviation, a decision that led to a successful career in mechanics. For over 30 years, Charlie worked as a mechanic at American Airlines, where his tireless work ethic and commitment made him a respected colleague. He retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.

On March 24, 1978, Charlie married the love of his life, Betty K. Simpson, in Catoosa, Oklahoma. The couple's wedding was a lively celebration, with Charlie's friends surprising everyone with champagne. Together, Charlie and Betty raised their son, Joel, and shared more than 46 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, adventure, and companionship.

Charlie had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in caring for animals, tending to the land, and spending time in nature. He also liked to fish and enjoyed riding his Honda Trike. One of Charlie's greatest passions was traveling the United States with Betty, visiting National Parks and exploring the food in Louisiana.

Known for his kindness and generosity, Charles was always there to lend a helping hand. He had a tireless spirit, always busy with projects and finding ways to contribute. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, and the love he had for them was evident in all that he did. His warmth, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Betty, of the home; his son: Joel E. Stewart and wife Kylee of Chesapeake, Virginia; his brother: Robert D. Bond of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; his beloved grandchildren: Faith A. Stewart, Joel E. Stewart II and wife Felicia, and Daxton D. Stewart; sister-in-law: Vicki M. Kerbo and husband Bobby of Kingston, Oklahoma; brother-in-law: Danny Simpson and wife Terry of Kingston, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: Clarence, and 1 sister: Kathy.

A funeral service to honor Charlie’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor William Durrant of Closer Walk Church in Branson, Missouri, will officiate. Following the service, Charles will be laid to rest at Hogan Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
