Ann (Rodman) Smith
September 5, 1937 - December 31, 2024
Anna Lee (Rodman) Smith was born on September 5, 1937, in Owasso, Oklahoma, to Delbert Harold and Lucille Froan (Childers) Rodman. She peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
At the age of 16, Ann graduated from Skiatook High School with the Class of 1953. On October 5, 1956, she married her lifelong love, Ernell Dale Smith, at the First Presbyterian Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Their marriage of over 68 years was marked by unwavering devotion as they raised three beloved children: Sherri, Bradley, and Brenton.
Ann began her career at MUDD Insurance in Tulsa, but after marriage the family moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1957. There, she and Dale became a dynamic team in both family and business. Together, they owned and operated numerous local establishments, including the Movie Park Drive-In Theatre, Tastee Freeze, The Playhouse Toy Store, The Spot Theatre, Springs Cinema, Cinema Video, and Sunsational Tanning Salon. Ann's dedication as a partner and helpmate to her husband was evident in all their endeavors, as she carried herself with grace, always dressed impeccably.
Ann was a devoted member of the PEO Society and the First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs. Her kindness and generosity shone brightly in her community, as she quietly provided support to those in need - ministering to the sick and elderly. Ann also expressed her creativity through crochet, a pastime she enjoyed whenever possible.
Among Ann's many accomplishments, her greatest pride was her family. She instilled in her children the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. Ever-present in their lives, she guided and supported them through every stage. Ann's tireless spirit was evident as she balanced long hours working alongside Dale with her dedication to family and faith, ensuring they never missed church. Her positivity and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Ann truly never met a stranger. Her unique and loving soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ann is survived by: her husband, of the home; 3 children: Sherri Dalton and her husband Kevin of Owasso, Oklahoma, Bradley Dale Smith of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Brenton Lee Smith and wife Marcia of Springdale, Arkansas; 2 sisters: Rosella Turner of Ocala, Florida and Barbara Lacy of Ocala, Florida; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
