Harvey Dan Sitsler
February 7, 1936 - July 15, 2021

Harvey Dan Sitsler was born February 7, 1936, in Kenwood, Oklahoma to Daniel and Bertha Marie (Dollarhide) Sitsler. He departed this life on Thursday, July 15, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age 85 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Harvey grew up in the Leach, Delaware County, Oklahoma area. On April 2, 1953, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Pearl Russell and Harvey Dan Sitsler were united in marriage. Pearl preceded Harvey in death on December 30, 2017. The couple had been married just shy of 65 years.

Harvey worked with his father at the family sawmill in Leach. He was a logger and tree faller. He also spent some time in Oregon doing this work. The family also lived in Leach for some time, until their move to Locust Grove in the 1980's.

Harvey loved quarter horse racing. He trained and raised many head of horses over the years and had been a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for many years. He enjoyed fishing and in former years, enjoyed deer hunting. Harvey had a very large family and was loved by many.

Harvey is survived by: 6 children: Larry Sitsler and wife Karen of Peggs, Oklahoma, Patricia George and husband Del of Albany, Oregon, Karen Pelroy and husband Joe of Albany, Oregon, Carl Sitsler of Peggs, Oklahoma, Debra Hibbs of Albany, Oregon, and Sandra Hoffman of Inola, Oklahoma; 27 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; 1 brother: U.J. Sitsler; 1 sister: Wanda Montgomery; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 sons: Jimmy Sitsler, Kenneth Sitsler, and Johnny Sitsler; 5 brothers: Virgil Sitsler, Fred Sitsler, Larry Sitsler, Jr., Jerry Sitsler, and David Sitsler; 3 sisters: Juanita Sitsler, Ruby Squirrel, and Wilma Jean Sitsler; 1 granddaughter: Spencer Baker; and 1 great granddaughter: Hailey George.

Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Crossroads Assembly of God in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Reverend Jess Stipes officiated. Interment followed at the Hogan Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
