Joyce Karnes
October 11, 1942 - November 16, 2024

Joyce Yvonne (Brady) Karnes, 82, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 11, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Henry William Brady and Eliza Ann (Gaines) Johnson.

Joyce grew up and attended schools in Jenks, Oklahoma. She carried the values of hard work and kindness throughout her life. She held a variety of roles, including as a waitress at Poncho's in Tulsa, a worker at the yarn mill in Pryor, and at a nursing home in Locust Grove. In 2016, she retired after 18 years of service at Wal-Mart, where she touched the lives of coworkers and customers alike.

An avid seamstress, Joyce loved sewing and creating aprons. She also liked to make ceramics. She spent lots of time shopping, especially for antiques, as she had an eye for unique treasures. In 1997, Joyce found her greatest treasure in her faith when she gave her life to Christ. A devoted member of Sukkat Chaim in Locust Grove, she cherished her church family deeply and lived her life as a testament to her love for Jesus.

Joyce will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her mischievous sense of humor, and the profound love she shared for and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her kindness, warmth, and unforgettable smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by: 1 daughter: Carol Pasley of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 son: Larry Booth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, including: Kara Lynn Watson and husband Shawn, Billy Keith Smallwood, Robert Britton Smallwood and Madison, Jazmine Booth, and Blair Pasley and Daniel; 26 great grandchildren, including: Ciarra Morris and husband Brayden, Klowie Watson, and Samuel Watson, Randy Pruitt and Rainie; 6 great-great grandchildren: Sophia Reign Morris, Grayseign Ray Morris, and Khaizen Naveen Watson; and her soul sister: Brenda Miller of Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Joyce is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and her beloved church family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 brother: Jerry Lee; 2 sisters: Rebecca Tate and Cora Foreman; and 2 sons: Samuel Paul Pasley and Robert Dale Pasley.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Sukkat Chaim in Locust Grove, with Brother Brian Drywater officiating. Interment will follow at Hogan Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
