Kathryn "Babe" Harris
October 1, 1930 - February 20, 2025
Kathryn Mae "Babe" Harris, 94, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on October 1, 1930, to Leonard Alvin and Iva Myrtle (Breedlove) Cooper.
Babe grew up in Mayes County, attending Cedar Crest Grade School and Locust Grove High School. On May 2, 1964, she married the love of her life, Bill Harris, in Troy, Texas. The couple spent about 15 years in Texas before returning to Mayes County, where they made their home in the Cedar Crest area before settling in Locust Grove in 1988.
A hardworking and dedicated woman, Babe spent over 30 years working in the California frozen food industry in Modesto, as well as working at Texas Instruments in Dallas during her time in Texas. Throughout her life, Babe had a deep love for gospel and bluegrass music, devoting more than 25 years to the gospel music ministry. She shared her musical talent across Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas, playing in various venues and nursing homes, bringing joy to many.
In her younger years, Babe enjoyed picking blueberries and pecans with her family and cherished quilting alongside loved ones. However, her greatest passion was fishing. Her nephew Terry holds dear the memories of their fishing trips, from his very first outing to Babe's final time fishing on her 90th birthday. Known for her no-nonsense attitude, Babe was a woman of integrity and kindness, never speaking ill of anyone and deeply cherishing her family.
Babe is survived by: her close nephew: Terry Cooper and wife Brooke of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; great-niece: Jensen Cooper of Galveston, Texas; and great-nephew: Isaiah Cooper and wife Madison of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews: including Randy Farmer, Gary Cooper and wife Carlotta, Jeanette Cole and husband Wayne, and Jody Mounce, all of Locust Grove; Rhonda Adams of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Kenny Cooper of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Shannon Cooper, Sunny Cooper, and Dalenne Oskolkoff, all of Alaska; and David and Angela Cooper of Claremore, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband: Bill.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel in Locust Grove, with Brother Shawn Bates officiating. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
