Ranson Lee Briggs
February 9, 1937 - September 30, 2024

Ranson Lee Briggs, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, was born on February 9, 1937, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles Onas and Vessie Esther (Moody) Briggs. He passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 21 days.

Lee spent his early years in the Redfork area of West Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he attended Webster High School and graduated with the class of 1955. Shortly after, on October 24, 1955, Lee married the love of his life, Peggy Lou Philpot, at the First Baptist Church in Claremore, Oklahoma. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage, raising three children: Brent, Kelly, and Sherry. Peggy preceded him in death on September 8, 2012.

Throughout his life, Lee was a dedicated employee of Texaco, a career that took his family to Wichita, Kansas, and Omaha, Nebraska, before they eventually settled in Tulsa from 1975 to 2001. After retiring and selling their Tulsa home, Lee and Peggy embraced their love of travel, spending several years exploring the country in their RV.

A man of faith, Lee was a devoted member of the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, from playing golf to meticulously caring for his lawn - a pastime he took great pride in, known affectionately by his CB handle "Lawnmower." Lee was also an avid sports enthusiast, often coaching his children in softball and baseball and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Above all, Lee will be remembered for his unwavering faith, love, and devotion. His son Brent fondly described him as "Premium," a fitting tribute to a man of such high character. Lee was loved by all of his family, friends, and church family. He will be missed dearly.

Lee is survived by: 3 children: Brent Lee Briggs and wife Tamrah of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Kelly Lynn Briggs and Misty Owen of Broken Arrow, and Sherry Leah Briggs of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Heather K. Keys, W. Charley Briggs, Lindsay Jean Skiles, Leah Nicole Skiles, Nathan L. Briggs, and Kayli Harris; 10 great grandchildren: Alex, Braxton, Jak, Mia, Amila, Kamryn, Aiden, Genisis, Haylie, and Aria; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; 1 sister: Ona Mae Earp; 5 brothers: Claude Steven Briggs, Lloyd Briggs, Everett Briggs, Joseph Neal Briggs, and Thomas W. Briggs; and 1 grandson-in-law: Preston Keys.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Hogan Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home. To leave condolences or share memories, please visit www.locustgrovefuneralhome.com.
